According to the latest report of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), on May 25, 2026, many cities of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh will be affected by severe heatwave. The day temperature in many cities is expected to reach 45 to 47 degrees Celsius. At the same time, storm, thunder and light rain can also provide relief in some areas. Which city will be the hottest today?
The maximum heat is likely to be recorded in parts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar on May 25. The temperature can reach 47°C in Achalda, Achnera, Auraiya, Banda, Prayagraj, Mirzapur and Jhansi of UP. The mercury will also be near 47°C in Daudnagar and Sasaram of Bihar. The temperature is expected to be 43°C in Bhopal of Madhya Pradesh and 42°C in Indore-Ujjain. A warning of heatwave and strong surface winds has been issued in Delhi too with 44°C.

The sky will remain clear in most of the districts of Uttar Pradesh but heat wave and hot nights will trouble people. The impact of heat wave will be maximum in Lucknow, Kanpur, Agra, Prayagraj, Banaras and Meerut. In Bihar’s Arrah, Sasaram and Daudnagar, the heat will feel more dangerous due to strong sunlight and clear sky. At the same time, the weather may change in Ranchi, Bano-Simdega and Daltonganj of Jharkhand. There is a possibility of thunderstorms, dust storms and strong winds at a speed of 40-50 km per hour. Yellow alert like situation prevails in Ranchi and surrounding areas.

- UP: Heatwave alert in many cities with possibility of thunderstorms and strong winds in Agra, Aligarh and Meerut.
- Jharkhand: There is a danger of thunderstorm in Ranchi, Bano-Simdega and Daltonganj.
- Bihar: No major alert at present, but there are signs of rain after May 27.
- Madhya Pradesh: There are indications of heatwave becoming more intense in Bhopal from May 26.

According to IMD, the temperature may remain around 47°C in many parts of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh between May 26 and 28. The night temperature will also be much above normal, due to which the nights will also be hot. This will increase the risk of heat stress and dehydration.
