Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2027: What benefit can Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and BJP get if UP Assembly elections are held before time? Can this cause harm to Akhilesh Yadav’s SP and other opposition parties? What are the preparations of Akhilesh Yadav and SP in case of sudden elections? Is Mayawati’s BSP also ready for this?
Yogi Adityanath vs Akhilesh Yadav: There are rumors of early assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. In recent times, the way both BJP and SP have intensified their election preparations, this discussion has become more heated. Although, there is no official indication from the Election Commission yet, but many things in the political circles are indicating that the elections will be held soon. In such a situation, there is only one question on everyone’s mind, if UP elections are held before the scheduled time, then who will win? Who is going to benefit the most from this, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath or Akhilesh Yadav? According to political pundits and experts, in case of sudden and early elections, both the camps have their own mathematics of profit and loss.
Early elections in Uttar Pradesh, who will get the biggest benefit?
Why do Yogi Adityanath and BJP have the upper hand?
- Experts believe that due to sudden elections, the opposition parties will not get a chance for complete preparation and campaign at the grassroots level.
- BJP has already started raising an army of ‘booth palaks’ at 1.76 lakh polling booths on the lines of ‘Bengal Model’, so that they can exert full force even in a short period of time.
- Due to the ongoing tension in the Middle East, the impact of recession or inflation may increase at the ground level due to the situation around the world in the last quarter of the year (January-March). The government would like to be safe from possible public anger by holding elections before then.
What is the counter plan of Akhilesh Yadav and SP?
- Akhilesh Yadav is not taking any risk this time. According to media reports, he has internally finalized the names of about 200 candidates, so that whether the elections are held in November or 2027, SP does not remain on the backfoot. Most of these are names of old MLAs.
- In Delhi, Rahul Gandhi has prepared the ground for further strengthening the ‘PDA’ (Backward, Dalit, Minority) alliance of SP by holding a meeting with big Dalit and backward class leaders of UP. If there is an undercurrent among the public regarding any issue, then SP is fully prepared to capitalize on it.
3 big reasons, which can hasten UP elections
census crisis
National census work is currently going on in the country, the second major phase of which is to be held in February 2027. More than 5 lakh government teachers and officers have been put on duty for this in UP. The biggest thing is that these same 7 lakh employees are required to conduct elections. If both things happen simultaneously in February 2027, the entire government structure will collapse.
board exams
CBSE examinations including UP Board are held in the month of February-March. All the schools and teachers are busy in it, hence conducting elections during this time is a big headache.
Voter list timeline
According to Election Commission officials, usually the final voter list comes in mid-January. But if it is decided to hold elections earlier, then this time the new voter list will be released only by November.
UP parties in election mode, who is standing where?
