Ai and robotics in surgery: Can you think that in the future, wearing a doctor’s body, scan the patient’s body from inside or do surgery without harvesting robots? This is not a science fiction, but now it is going to be a reality- that too in India. AIIMS Delhi has now started preparing such a system with the famous German university Tu Dresden. In which treatment and surgery will be easier, fast and safe with advanced technology like AI, robotics and extended reality.

A historic agreement has been reached between AIIMS Delhi and Tu Dresden University in Germany. Under this partnership, now the two institutions will work together on using Advanced Technology in the field of healthcare such as artificial intelligence (AI), extended reality (XR) and robotics in surgery and treatment. A three -day workshop took place in Delhi between 16 and 18 July, which included doctors, engineers and health experts from both countries. During this time, a letter of intent was signed, which has opened the way for even more research projects and health innovation in future.

How will AI and robotics help in treatment?

  • AI means to think like humans in machines. Doctors will now use this technique in diagnosis, surgery planning and real time operation.
  • With XR (Extended Reality), the doctor will be able to see the patient’s body in 3D, which will make the surgery more secure and accurate than before. With the help of virtual reality and agmented reality, doctors will be able to see the patient’s organs in 3D imaging before the operation. This will make both training and surgery easier.
  • Robotics – Along with this, special machines will work in robotic surgery. This will reduce the patient’s pain, harvesting and stay in the hospital. Which will speed up the recovery of patients and complex surgery will become easier.

What do doctors and scientists have to say?

AIIMS Director of Dr. M. Srinivas Said that this partnership is the prototype of health technology future. When India’s Clinical Experience and German engineering meet together, the world will get a new model. There itself Tu dresden Rector Professor Ursula Stoudinger Said that such a combination of medical and engineering can change the lives of patients.

What is the benefit of the common man from this partnership?

  • Treatment will be even better and accurate
  • Poor patients will also get advanced technology
  • India will become a global leader in medical technology
  • Recovery of patient in short time
  • Startups and digital health innovation promoted
  • India-Germany relations even stronger
  • India’s image strong as a global health model

Now this partnership will not be limited to only workshops. Both institutions will start a pilot project in areas like robotic surgery, smart diagnostics, remote monitoring in the coming time. Health startups of India and Germany will get a new direction.
