Karan Johar Clarifies Sell His Dharma Productions Stake: Karan Johar has now spoke openly about the decision to sell 50% stake in his production company Dharma Productions to Adar Poonawala. In 2024, it was surprising for many when Karan Johar made a ₹ 1000 crore deal to sell 50% stake of Dharma Productions to Adar Poonawala through his company Seren Productions. The remaining 50% stake is Karan’s Executive Chairman and CEO Apoorva Mehta. In the podcast game changers, Karan Johar spoke openly about the decision and explained how he is also focusing on Profitability with every project.
Karan Johar told the real reason for selling the company
During the conversation, when Karan was asked how he decided to sell half a stake, he said, “It happened that Aadar and his wife Natasha were very close friends. He called him one day and said that he is interested in my production company. But I told him that he did not look at this business. He said that he wanted to increase it.

Karan’s company CEO and share also supported
Karan’s CEO Apoorva said that Adar is very good – he is a friend, Kind and wants to expand the company further. Therefore, we have not lost any creative control. The balance remains because when there is a share holder, you become more accountable. We got an invest for its expansion, I immediately enabled to open a distrbuction branch and have something bigger with the music branch. Adar is rich in a very spectacular personality. They are Kind and Business Minded. When we want to make a big deal, they help us. Apoorva and I always consult them. “
