Kia India is preparing to launch four new vehicles by 2027. This is part of the company’s bigger plan to introduce 10 new models by 2030. These upcoming vehicles include Kia Ciros EV, Kia Seltos Hybrid, Kia Sorento and the new generation Kia Sonet.
Kia India has recently revealed one of its big plans. The company wants to increase its line-up of vehicles to 10 models by 2030, of which eight will be electric models. Under this plan, three new vehicles are expected to be launched by 2027, which include Kia Ciros EV, Kia Seltos Hybrid and Kia Sorento Hybrid. The new generation Kia Sonet will also arrive in 2027 itself, although its hybrid version will be launched some time later. Test models of these upcoming vehicles have been seen several times during testing, which shows that a lot of work is going on on them before their official launch. Come, let us know more about them.
Kia Ciros EV
Sales of the Kia Ciros EV may begin in August 2026. This will be Kia’s smallest and most affordable electric model in India, which will compete with the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV 3XO. Its electric version will also retain its signature boxy design and tall stance. However, aero-optimized alloy wheels, charging flap and several EV-specific changes will make it different from its petrol-diesel model. Based on the K1 platform, the Kia Ciros EV is likely to use the same powertrain as Hyundai’s Inster EV. Inster EV is sold in the global market with 42kWh and 49kWh battery pack options.
Kia Seltos Hybrid
It has been confirmed that the Kia Seltos Hybrid will launch in early 2027. Not much information has been revealed about its powertrain yet, but it is expected that this SUV will be given an electric version of the existing 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine (which gives power of 115 bhp). Barring the hybrid badging, there are likely to be no major changes in the overall design and styling of the Seltos Hybrid.
new generation kia sonet
The second generation Kia Sonet, codenamed QY2E, will hit Indian roads in 2027. This sub-compact SUV will be based on a new K1 platform, which also underpins the Ciros. Since the K1 platform supports the latest electrical and electronics (E&E) architecture, the new Sonet is expected to get features like OTA (over-the-air) updates and remote diagnostics. The existing 83bhp 1.2L petrol, 120bhp 1.0L turbo-petrol and 116bhp 1.5L diesel engine options will be continued. A new strong hybrid powertrain is also expected to be added to the Sonet line-up in 2028 or 2029.
kia sorento
The Kia Sorento will be a premium three-row SUV, which will compete with the Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV 7XO and the Hyundai Alcazar. Information about the powertrain of the model coming to India has not been revealed yet. But this SUV is expected to share its hybrid powertrain with the upcoming Seltos Hybrid. In the global market, the Sorento gets a 1.6L turbo-petrol hybrid powertrain, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. AWD (all-wheel drive) is available as standard in its Europe-spec model.
