Beyond social media banter, his recent white-ball performance displays mixed results. He recently rejoined the national squad for the West Indies series after skipping previous matchups against Afghanistan and England. During these two Caribbean games, he recorded bowling figures of 2/75 and 0/54. Over his past 15 One Day Internationals since 2025, he accumulated 149 runs averaging 29.80. His bowling statistics had a dip during this period, securing 14 wickets at an average of 47.93, with best figures of 3/26. This calendar year alone, he has taken only two wickets in five matches.
Despite fluctuating white-ball numbers, he remains a core player in the longest format. During two recent test matches against Sri Lanka, he secured eight wickets at a 33.57 average while contributing 65 runs across three innings. Batting coach Sitanshu Kotak recently backed his potential, praising his exceptional fielding abilities and unmatched overall experience. Kotak noted that such seasoned players remain valuable assets while planning for future major tournaments. Supporters now await official squad announcements for the upcoming five-match series in New Zealand beginning November 22, eager to see his inclusion.
