Karishma Kapoor was first to be cast in Bobby Deol’s debut film ‘Barsaat’. Karishma left the film due to the delay in the director and script. Twinkle Khanna was later launched and the film proved to be a superhit.
Bobby Deol has completed 30 years in Indian cinema. He made her Bollywood debut with the film ‘Barsaat’ released in 1995. Twinkle Khanna also made her debut with this film. Twinkle soon quit acting, but Bobby Deol came into the limelight. Now in an interview, Bobby has revealed that the first choice of the makers for ‘Barsaat’ was not Twinkle, but Karishma Kapoor.
Why Karishma Kapoor did not make debut with ‘Barsaat’
Bobby Deol said, ‘Actually, I had to debut with Karisma Kapoor, but the story of my film was not being fully developed. The script was working. At that time, women’s career was such that she could not work for many years. Thankfully, it has changed now. Therefore, Karishma was a bit insicious, and I do not blame her for it. Therefore, he decided to start his career with ‘Prem Prisoner’ (1991). I think it was destiny that Twinkle and I started together. It was obviously his decision. She was not comfortable at all. She has always been fearless. They have a different style, which you can see even today. So she became a writer and she specializes in all this.

Why did Shekhar Kapoor leave ‘Barsaat’
Bobby was asked about his beloved memories related to the shooting of the film, so in response, he said, ‘I have a lot of memories! The Muhurta shot took place on my birthday day i.e. 27 January. I was 22–23 years old. Shekhar Kapoor was directing the film at that time. I remember that in the first shot I had given, I had to get down from the stairs, had to see in a special direction and smile. We shot that film for 27 days, and then it stopped. Shekhar got the ‘Bandit Queen’ (1994), and he wanted to do it. My father (Dharmendra) wanted my film to be completed on time. Therefore, Rajkumar Santoshi directed my first film.
Let me tell you, after the film ‘Barsaat’, Bobby Gupta appeared in films like ‘The Hidden Truth’, ‘Close’, ‘Badal’, ‘Hum To Mohabbat Karena’, ‘Scorpion’, ‘Stranger’, ‘Stranger’, ‘Hamaraj’ and ‘Jhoom Samraj’ and ‘Jhoom Samaj’. After this, his career declined, but then Bobby Deol came to the box office by making a comeback from the film ‘Animal’.
