What is the ideal code of conduct?
The Election Commission has made rules to conduct elections in India in an independent and impartial manner, which is called the code of conduct. As soon as the assembly or Lok Sabha elections are announced in any state, the model code of conduct automatically comes into force. The code of conduct is applicable from the announcement of the election date to the counting of votes. During this time, political parties and leaders have to follow certain rules. If a party or leader violates the code of conduct, the Election Commission takes strict action against it.

Can the candidature be canceled on violation of the code of conduct?
The Election Commission also has the right to cancel the candidature of the leader concerned for violating the model code of conduct. Also, if the political party does any wrong thing, its recognition can also be canceled.
What are the rules of the code of conduct?
1- After the code of conduct, it is forbidden to ask for votes in the name of any caste-religion.
2- Use of public money is completely banned. This is so that no political party or leader gets electoral benefits.
3- After the implementation of the code of conduct, leaders cannot use government aircraft or government bungalows for campaigning.
4- To influence voters, any government announcements, inaugurations or foundations are prohibited.
5- It is necessary to get the permission of police and administration before any kind of political rally or election meeting.
6- During the code of conduct, a party or candidate will keep the conduct normal in their functioning process. Rules are prescribed for all the meeting or procession.
7- During the code of conduct, no leader or minister can transfer or post government officials. If it is very important to do this, then the Election Commission will have to inform about it first. Nothing can be done without the permission of the Election Commission.
8- The ruling party will not promote any such activity for campaigning, which is benefiting any of its leaders or the entire party. Apart from this, he cannot use the government treasury for this.
9- Advertisements related to the party or government attached to government expense at public places will be removed with immediate effect.
10- No government tenders will be issued. Also, no new works will be announced.
11- Loudspeakers can be used only from 10 am to 6 pm. Similarly, public meetings or processions can be held between 6 am and 10 pm.
12- On the day of voting, the Arms Act- 1959 cannot carry banned weapons anywhere around the polling booth. Also, no candidate or political parties will be able to campaign for votes within 100 meters of polling booth.
13- The code of conduct is implemented by the Election Commission announcement of voting date to give certificate to public representatives on the day of counting.
