The dates of Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 will be announced today. The NDA and the Grand Alliance are the main contest in 243 seats, but the changing of the legislators has changed political equations. New parties like Jan Suraj will also influence the match.
Patna: The politics of Bihar stands at a big turn today. Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar will announce the dates of Bihar Assembly Election 2025 by holding a press conference this evening. With this announcement, the war of 243 seats in the state will start formally. In this war of 243 -member assembly, all parties have thrown their full strength. With the announcement of election dates, the political temperature of the state will reach its peak. NDA, Grand Alliance, Jan Suraj and small regional parties, all have finalized their respective strategies. But the most discussion is that in whose favor the changing political equations of Bihar will go.
How long will the election process be completed
The Election Commission has indicated that this time voting will be held in one or two phases and the entire process will be completed before 20 November. The Commission has set a limit of maximum 1200 voters at each polling station. Webcasting and CCTV monitoring have been arranged for safety and transparency. This time the system will be faster, transparent and safe than the previous elections.
Changing political equation
In the 2020 election, the NDA got 125 seats, while the Grand Alliance got 110 seats. But in the last five years, the change of political frost and MLA Migration has completely changed the equation. Many MLAs kept coming between the NDA and the Grand Alliance. Nitish Kumar has been in NDA several times in the grand alliance several times. Some RJD MLAs joined the NDA, while the MLAs of BJP’s allies also changed their courts.
Seat position and change: 2020 to 2025
RJD was the largest party in Bihar assembly elections 2020 and got 75 seats. But in the last five years, its figure has grown up. The number decreased to 74 after losing the Kudhni seat in the first by -election. Then Mukesh Sahni returned to number 75 after the death of the VIP’s Bochan MLA and victory in the by -election. The figure increased to 79 with the four MLAs of AIMIM joining the RJD. But after becoming MPs of Ramgarh and Belaganj seats, BJP won the vacant seats, which led to the actual figure of RJD to 77. Four more RJD MLAs, Prahlad Yadav, Chetan Anand, Neelam Devi and Sangeeta Kumari joined the NDA during the floor test of the NDA government. Apart from this, RJD MLA Bharat Bind of Bhabhua also joined the BJP, which reduced the actual score of RJD to 69.
BJP’s position was strong. It got 74 seats in 2020. The current figure of BJP reached 80 after including three VIP MLAs and winning Ramgarh and Tarari seats in the by -elections.
JDU’s position started in 43. The number increased to 45 from BSP and LJP MLAs, but just 18 months later JDU returned to the NDA and remained between 44–45 in the by -elections in the local seats. The position of Congress and Left parties weakened, while we party, AIMIM and VIP/LJP seats were limited or finished.
Political ‘migration’ and political equation
In the last five years, political migration in Bihar completely changed the mathematics of the assembly. Many RJD MLAs join the NDA, the BJP’s strengthening in the by-election, and the JDU return returning to the NDA-party was the main reason for this change. This was not only a change of numbers, but also had a profound impact on the political equation. Nitish Kumar sometimes changed the equation of the coalition due to being with the Grand Alliance and sometimes with the NDA.
In the electoral atmosphere, this migration can become a challenge for both Grand Alliance and NDA. Small changes in seat figures also have a major impact on the electoral strategy and the strength of the coalition. It is a clear indication for political parties that every vote and every seat will be decisive in the 2025 Bihar assembly elections.
NDA status and strategy
JDU, BJP, Upendra Kushwaha’s RLD and Jitan Ram Manjhi’s Hum Party are important faces of NDA this time. There is an inner tussle on the seat sharing, but an attempt is being made to maintain the solidarity of the alliance. This time the BJP has chosen backward classes and women voters as the main strategy, while JDU is relying on rural areas and panchayat networks. Manjhi and Kushwaha have also claimed their claims, causing a stir in the NDA.
Preparation of Grand Alliance
RJD, led by Tejashwi Yadav, has made employment and education the main issue. The Congress and the Left are also surrounding the central government on issues of inflation and unemployment. The Grand Alliance has prepared a list of candidates for about 50 seats, while the Congress and the Left are claiming about 80 seats. The goal of the Grand Alliance is to keep the youth, women and rural voters at the center.
Political migration and migration
There have been many shocking changes in Bihar politics in the last two years. Upendra Kushwaha was earlier in the Grand Alliance, but is now part of the NDA. Jeetan Ram Manjhi returned to the grand alliance from NDA and then returned to NDA. Chirag Paswan’s LJP is currently playing the role of NDA pro -NDA. At the same time, Prashant Kishore’s Jan Suraj Party has made the game more complicated by becoming the third option in the state. All these changes have made the fight of 243 seats more uncertain than ever.
Jan Suraj and new expectations
Prashant Kishore’s party has challenged the traditional vote bank in Seemanchal, Mithilanchal and Magadh. PK claims that they want to change the politics of Bihar with public participation. Apart from this, about 1.5 million new voters will vote for the first time, which can have a big impact on the election results.
Bihar’s 2025 election is not just NDA vs. Grand Alliance. This vote bank vs. mandate, old loyalty vs are a battle of new expectations. Political migration, alliance and new players’ entry will completely affect the election results. After the press conference of the Election Commission this evening, the political direction of Bihar is going to be decided.
