Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav took strict action after the death of children with phlegm syrup in Chhindwara. An FIR was lodged on disputed syrup, doctor suspended and pharmaceutical company. The government formed an investigation team.
Bhopal. The case of the death of children with phlegm syrup in Chhindwara district of Madhya Pradesh has shaken the entire state. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav expressed deep grief over the incident and said that it is very painful and unacceptable. Taking quick action, he has banned the sale of disputed Kapha syrup. Also, strict legal action has been initiated against the culprits.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will visit Chhindwara on Monday
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will visit the Parasia area of Chhindwara on Monday. They will go there and visit the affected villages and meet the victim’s families and share their grief. The Chief Minister said that the government is standing with every affected family and such negligence will not be tolerated at any cost.
Ban on Coldrif Kapha Syrup in the state
The government has banned it across the state after the investigation report of ‘Coldrif Cuff Syrup’ used in the treatment of children who died in Chhindwara. The administration has started the action to seize this syrup by raiding pharmacy shops and hospitals. Investigations found that the samples of coldfriend syrup are invalid and have serious flaws, which proved to be harmful to health.
Joint investigation team formed
In view of the seriousness of the incident, the Chief Minister has immediately formed a joint investigation team. This team is conducting a detailed investigation into the entire case, so that it can be ascertained where there was negligence in the supply, distribution and use of syrup.
FIR lodged on doctor and pharmaceutical company
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav has suspended Dr. Praveen Soni, a pediatrician posted at Parasia Civil Hospital. Also, he has directed to register an FIR against the drug manufacturer.
Investigation revealed that Dr. Soni was doing private practice and gave the children the same cough syrup, which affected him high fever, difficulty in urination and kidney. Many infants died of this.

Following the instructions of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, Public Health and Medical Education Commissioner Tarun Rathi suspended Dr. Praveen Soni with immediate effect. Along with this, a case has been registered against Dr. Soni in Thana Parasia and Director of Messrs Srisan Pharmaceuticals, a pharmaceutical company at Kanchipuram (Tamil Nadu), Section 105, 276 of the Indian Justice Code 2023 and Section 27A of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act 1940.
Government’s strict warning
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that no negligence related to drug manufacturing and distribution will be tolerated. He has instructed the officials to check the quality of all infant medicines and syrup being sold in the state and the suspected medicines should be removed from the market immediately.
