According to the Meteorological Department official, most districts of North Bengal may be splashed with light to moderate rains or thunderstorms. In addition, there may be heavy to very heavy rainfall from 7 to 20 cm in some places. One or two areas of Cooch Behar, Alipurduar and Darjeeling are expected to receive extremely heavy rainfall up to 20 centimeters.

At least 20 people died

Due to rain, landslides incidents are also coming to the fore. At least 20 people have died in the landslides in Mirik, Darjeeling and the surrounding hilly areas. Apart from this, hundreds of tourists are also trapped, which are going on relief work to remove.

The Meteorological Department has advised citizens to be vigilant and stay in safe places.
