When it comes to large family movers in India, Toyota currently rules the roost with the Innova Hycross and the ultra-luxurious Vellfire. However, Hyundai is now gearing up to shake up the luxury MPV space with a product that redefines rear-seat comfort and space. Here’s everything to know about the upcoming Hyundai 7-seater SUV.
New Hyundai 7-Seater Coming

We’re talking about the Hyundai Staria, a spacious seven-seater MPV. It is a whopping 5.23-metre-long MPV, making it significantly longer than the Toyota Vellfire. Despite its vast dimensions, the Staria still doesn’t look ungainly. The quirky design language, with elements like split headlights, massive window panes, and “Ioniq-like” pixel taillights, makes it stand out.
Features & Powertrain

The Hyundai Staria is a large MPV, available in 7-, 9-, and 11-seat configurations internationally. Moreover, its long design equates to ample cabin space to seat all passengers comfortably. The MPV features high-quality materials and large windows inside. Other notable features include a Dual sunroof, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, ventilation for the 1st and 2nd row, 64-colour ambient lighting, an 8-inch infotainment screen, a 360-degree camera, Boss mode, ADAS, Electric sliding doors, a powered tailgate, and a Bose sound system, among others.
The global-spec model is offered with a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine and a 2.2-litre diesel. Gearbox options include a 6-speed MT and an 8-speed AT. The diesel also gets AWD. The Indian-spec is expected to get the 2.2-litre diesel as an option. Hyundai is developing hybrid technology for other models, and the Staria could also benefit in the near future.
Expected Price & Launch

Hyundai has promised 26 models by 2030, and the Staria is expected to be one of them. Hyundai could launch the Staria by the end of this timeline, around 2029 and 2030. By then, the new-gen Staria could be unveiled globally, and the model could be introduced in India with more features, better tech, and a sharper look. It is expected to be priced between Rs 65 lakh and Rs. 70 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). It will lock horns with the Kia Carnival.
