A government doctor who wrote a cuff syrup named Coldrif to the children has been arrested. At the same time, a case has also been registered against the company of Shree Sun Pharmaceuticals of Tamil Nadu, which makes this syrup.

Many children were brought to Dr. Praveen Soni, after the health of many children in Parasia area of Chhindwara. The doctor wrote to him Coldrif Cuff Syrup. Initially, the children were relieved, but within a few days their condition suddenly started deteriorating. According to families, symptoms such as low urine, fever and weakness appeared in children. The condition became so bad that many children failed the kidneys. Investigation revealed that the syrup contained a poisonous chemical named Diethylene Glycol.

How to get poison in syrup? What was revealed in the investigation?
The government investigation found that 48.6% of the Diethylene Glycol was present in the sample of Coldrif Syrup. It is the same chemical used in industrial chemicals such as antifreeze liquid and paint. Chennai’s official lab declared it “not of standard quality”. After this, the Madhya Pradesh government lodged an FIR against the company Srison Pharma located in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu. Also, the sale of Coldrif and Nextro-DS syrup has been banned across the state.
Who is the arrested doctor and what are the allegations?
Investigation revealed that Dr. Praveen Soni, who is a government pediatrician, was writing this syrup to the children in his private clinic. When the case of death of children came to light, the administration immediately arrested them. According to officials, the doctor knew that the syrup was under investigation, yet he continued to use it.
Government’s big action: Case on company, syrup ban
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav tweeted and said- “The death of children in Coldrif Syrup in Chhindwara is very sad. The responsibilities will not be left at any cost.” Along with the ban on the sale of Coldrif in the state, other products of the company have also been banned. Apart from this, the same syrup has been banned in Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Investigation teams are active after the death of the children, but the families are still in the hope of justice.
