Chauhan moved into the flat after returning from Meghalaya, where he allegedly helped murder Raja. James had been arrested earlier, for allegedly tampering with evidence and hiding incriminating material linked to the case. Apart from him the police have also arrested the flat owner, Lokendra Tomar and a security guard at the building, Balveer. Both of them have been charged with tampering with evidence.

The Meghalaya Police SIT reached Ratlam and raided the house of James’ in-laws. There they recovered cash and several incriminating documents linked to the Raja Raghuwanshi murder case. James had confessed to moving the documents and cash which he found in the black bag which Sonam had brought with her from Meghalaya, to his in-laws place in Ratlam.

An SIT officer quoted by NDTV said that Sonam Raghuwanshi, the main accused in the Raja Raghuwanshi murder case is supposed to have stayed at the rented Indore flat after returning from Meghalaya. Raja Raghuwanshi married Sonam on May 11. Soon after their marriage, the couple left for their honeymoon in Meghalaya. Both of them went missing on May 23 and an investigation was launched to find the missing couple. However, days after their disappearance, on June 2, Raja’s body was recovered, just 20 kilometres away from the homestay where the couple had been staying. His wife was still missing.

Investigators were fanatically searching for the woman or her body, when Sonam mysteriously appeared in Ghazipur on June 8. She surrendered to the police, after the 3 killers, Vishal, Anand and Akash were caught by the police. Following Sonam’s surrender, police also arrested her alleged boyfriend, Raj Kushwaha. All of them then revealed the chilling details of the crime.

Sonam allegedly got her husband killed, hiring contract killers. She confessed to her crime on June 11. Her family snapped all ties with her after the details of the murder plot were revealed.
