If you take pension from Punjab National Bank (PNB) and you are 80 years or older, then there is good news for you. The bank has said that from 1 October 2025, such super senior citizens pensioners can submit their annual life certificate.
This facility has already been started so that elderly pensioners can be protected from crowds and long lines in November.
What did the government say?
The Pension and Pensioners Welfare Department (DOPPW) has instructed all banks to facilitate and fully cooperate to submit digital life certificate (DLC) to pensioners of 80 years and above. With this, senior citizens will get timely pension and they will not have to make rounds of the bank.
Face authentification
A digital life certificate can be made on mobile only from Jeevan Pramaan App. There is no need to go to any device or bank branch. Only smartphones, camera access and Aadhaar-link should be mobile number.
Verification from fingerprint
Pensioners can verify their identity with biometric by visiting the nearest PNB branch or Common Service Center (CSC). The bank staff or CSC operator will generate a digital certificate on the spot. Apart from this, pensioners who cannot go to the bank, they can submit a certificate at home through PNB Doorstep Banking Service. For this, booking will have to be done on the bank app or customer care. After this, the representative of the bank will come home and do biometric verification.
Offline deposit certificate
If a pensioner wants, he can submit a physical life certificate by going to any PNB branch. For this, valid ID proof and pension related documents will have to be taken along. Bank officials will give a receipt to submit.
What is Jeevan Pramaan?
Life certificate is an Aadhaar-based digital certificate, which confirms the pensioner being alive. This certificate is generated by biometric data (fingerprint or face authentication) and is valid under IT Act. Pensioners submit this certificate to their pension dispersing authority (bank or department) and prove that they are alive, so that their pension can continue.
