Hyundai has already commenced bookings for its upcoming Bayon SUV. The model is expected to arrive next month and will be positioned between the Venue and Creta in Hyundai’s lineup.

The Bayon will be powered by the 1.5-litre NA petrol engine carried over from the Creta; it will also be available in a CNG guise. However, it might miss out on the diesel and turbo petrol powertrains. Like its competitor, the Maruti Victoris, the Bayon is expected to get the underbody CNG tank. Features expected on this SUV include a dual-screen setup for infotainment and instrumentation, powered seats with ventilation, wireless charging, ambient lighting, automatic AC, ADAS, six airbags, TPMS, and more.

Honda Elevate Facelift

Expected Price: Rs. 14.5 lakh to Rs. 21 lakh (on-road, Mumbai)

The Honda Elevate Facelift will debut in October. This will be Honda’s third launch this year, after the City facelift and the ZR-V.

The Elevate facelift is expected to get a mild exterior makeover rather than a whole new look. Inside, the Japanese carmaker might offer a new cabin theme and updated seat upholstery, retaining the overall dashboard design. However, this SUV could get some new features that make it more competitive in the segment. That said, we expect the model to offer features it currently lacks, such as a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, ventilated front seats, a powered co-driver’s seat, and a 360-degree camera.

The facelifted Elevate is expected to retain its existing 1.5-litre four-cylinder NA petrol engine that produces 121 bhp and 145 Nm. It is available with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a CVT automatic.

Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG

Expected Price: Rs 10 lakh to Rs 15 lakh (on-road, Mumbai)

” alt=”” aria-hidden=”true” />

Mahindra has stayed away from factory-fitted CNG, but that may be changing. The XUV 3XO CNG is reportedly under development, considering the surge in demand for CNG cars in India.

This is expected to be one of the largest updates for the XUV 3XO. The CNG setup is expected to be based on the 1.2-litre turbo petrol MPFi engine (111 bhp & 200 Nm), rather than the TGDi unit. A manual gearbox is expected at launch. Currently, only the Tata Nexon offers the turbo CNG option in its segment (directly from the factory), and adding it to the XUV 3XO will make the space more competitive. Apart from the addition of a CNG kit, the model is expected to remain largely the same – so no extra features and no changes in design. One thing to note is that the CNG kit might reduce boot space, which could be a concern. Now, we need to look at how Mahindra tackles this.

Upcoming Cars In India – Renault Duster Hybrid

Expected Price: Rs 20 lakh to Rs 25 lakh (on-road, Mumbai)

The Renault Duster hybrid is all set to launch on 17 October. Renault had already announced that this hybrid setup makes up for the missing diesel powertrain on the model.

The hybrid setup will be the Duster’s main and only addition. It will use a 1.8-litre NA petrol engine with two electric motors and a 1.4kWh battery, which is much larger than the one offered by one of its competitors, the Toyota Hyryder. The model will deliver better mileage than its turbo petrol versions; Renault even claims it can run in EV mode for 80 percent of city driving, resulting in better efficiency. Apart from the hybrid mill, expect no changes to the design and features.

Tata Motors is expected to give its flagship SUV, the Safari, an EV treatment, making it the brand’s first seven-seater EV.

With this new powertrain, the model is expected to get a closed-off grille, EV-specific aero alloys, updated bumpers and other design changes. The interior is also expected to get changes inspired by the Sierra EV. Features could include a dual or triple screen setup for infotainment and instrumentation, ventilated and powered front seats, Level 2+ ADAS, auto park, V2V, V2L, a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, ambient lighting, and more. The battery packs could be carried over from the Harrier EV – a 65kWh and a 75kWh; there could also be Tata’s QWD (Quad Wheel Drive) offered with this model.

Upcoming Cars In India – Honda 0 Alpha

Expected Price: Rs 17 lakh and Rs 26 lakh (on-road, Mumbai)

” alt=”” aria-hidden=”true” />

This will be Honda’s first EV for India, said to be developed locally for competitive pricing.

The model has already been spotted testing, featuring a more futuristic, boxy design, a closed rectangular grille, high-set vertical taillamps, an upright tailgate, chunky bumpers, and pixel-style headlamps. Some spy shots even revealed the interior. Spotted features included a massive touchscreen, a small digital driver’s display, an all-new steering wheel with paddle shifters, and physical buttons on the centre console. We also expect six airbags, ADAS, wireless charging, rear AC vents, a HUD and a 360-degree camera, along with a panoramic glass roof and powered, ventilated front seats to make way into this SUV.

Honda has not yet revealed the battery pack details. However, we expect a 60-75kWh battery with over 500 km of range, likely in a single-motor, front-wheel-drive setup at launch.

 Hyundai Compact EV

Expected Price: Rs 12 lakh to Rs 18 lakh (on-road, Mumbai)

” alt=”” aria-hidden=”true” />

Hyundai’s first mass-market EV for India is codenamed HE1i and will take on the Tata Nexon EV. This model is expected to be built on the E-GMP (K) platform used by Hyundai Inster sold in the international markets.

While the Korean automaker has not yet revealed many details, the model has been spotted testing several times. It gets a tall, upright stance, a sealed-off front grille, pixel-style LED taillamps and headlamps, and more. We expect this Hyundai EV to offer features like a single-pane sunroof, a large touchscreen, leatherette upholstery, ventilated and powered seats, ADAS, six airbags, a 360-degree camera, and more.

The powertrain details are also in the shadows, but we expect this SUV to feature a 42 kWh and a 51.4 kWh battery pack from the Creta EV. The Hyundai Inster EV sold in international markets also gets a 49kWh battery pack; now we would need to wait to see if the brand plans to offer this too with its compact SUV.

Upcoming Cars In India – BYD Sealion 6

Expected Price: Rs 50 lakh to Rs 60 lakh (on-road, Mumbai)

” alt=”” aria-hidden=”true” />

BYD is known for EVs in India, but this one is different. The Sealion 6 will be BYD’s first plug-in hybrid in India, and a family-focused alternative to the Sealion 7.

The model is already on sale in international markets and offers an impressive feature suite, including a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen, a 10-speaker Infinity audio system, ventilated and heated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, dual wireless chargers, and more.

Under the hood, it gets a 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with an electric motor and a battery pack. Globally, the batteries are 18.3 kWh and 26.6 kWh, and BYD claims a combined range of more than 1,000 km. The 18.3 kWh version offers roughly 80- 90 km in pure electric mode.
