On Set with Director Anurag Singh

On set, Diljit was seen alongside director Anurag Singh and his long-time manager, Sonali Singh. At the Amritsar airport, he attracted attention for his outfit, which was reminiscent of the late human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, whom he portrays in the upcoming film Punjab 95. His simple checkered shirt and trousers mirrored Khalra’s everyday attire, sparking discussions online among fans who closely follow his transformations and behind-the-scenes updates.

Addressing Rumors

In light of the recent controversies surrounding Sardaar Ji 3, Diljit has firmly stated that he remains part of Border 2. A recent video from the film set showed him enjoying time with co-stars Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty, and Mona Singh, confirming his ongoing involvement. Directed by Anurag Singh, the film features Diljit as Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, a war hero from the 1971 Indo-Pak conflict. His updates from rural Punjab have reassured fans and quelled speculation about his departure from the project due to casting controversies.

Diljit’s Bollywood Journey

Diljit made his acting debut in the Hindi film industry with the critically acclaimed Udta Punjab in 2016. His collaboration with Alia Bhatt on the song Ikk Kudi, based on Shiv Kumar Batalvi’s work, was a significant hit. Over the years, he has explored various genres in films like Phillauri, Welcome to New York, Soorma, Arjun Patiala, Good Newwz, Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari, and Jogi. His recent OTT projects, Amar Singh Chamkila and Detective Sherdil, have also received positive feedback.

Controversy Surrounding Sardaar Ji 3

Diljit faced backlash over the casting of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in Sardaar Ji 3, which led to public outrage and media discussions about his role in Border 2. While some prominent figures criticized him, others like Javed Akhtar and Naseeruddin Shah defended him. Diljit clarified that the film was shot in early 2025, prior to rising geopolitical tensions, and would only be released overseas. Despite facing financial setbacks, he stood firm on his decision, emphasizing that art should not be politicized. The situation seems to be calming down as industry peers and fans support him for his transparency.

Upcoming Dil-Luminati Tour

Following a successful Dil-Luminati Tour in 2024, Diljit is preparing to return to North America in 2025. Reports from ticketing platforms and media sources indicate that new tour dates are being organized across the USA and Canada for the spring, summer, and even fall. While official announcements are still awaited, it is suggested that performances could commence as early as May and extend through October–November. Fans are eagerly anticipating the formal announcement of dates, with pre-sale excitement already building on social media.

No Upcoming Concerts in India

Diljit concluded his concert series in India with electrifying performances in cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, and Chandigarh, where his ‘Dil-Luminati’ show attracted a massive audience last year. This leg of his global tour marked his return to live performances in India after several years. However, during the Chandigarh show, Diljit announced that he would not be performing in India for the time being, citing insufficient infrastructure for large-scale concerts and the absence of global-standard setups. This announcement sparked discussions, but he later clarified that the hiatus might be temporary or specific to certain cities.

Honoring a War Hero

In Border 2, Diljit takes on the role of Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, the only Indian Air Force officer to receive the Param Vir Chakra. Sekhon is celebrated for his courageous defense of the Srinagar Air Base during the 1971 war. On July 17, Diljit shared a tribute to Sekhon on his Instagram stories, commemorating the war hero’s 80th birth anniversary, which resonated widely among his followers.
