Kolkata: In West Bengal, public anger has erupted against TMC leaders who are accused of collecting ‘cut money’ i.e. commission from people in exchange for government schemes. A similar incident took place in Howrah on Sunday, where people shaved the head of a TMC leader, garlanded him with shoes and paraded him around the area.
People of Amardaha village allege that TMC leader Sanyasi Manna was extorting money from people in the name of providing benefits of social welfare department schemes. When angry people raided his house, Aadhar cards and MNREGA job cards of many people were also found there. After this, the enraged people shaved half of Manna’s head and garlanded him with shoes and took him out in a procession. The video of this entire incident is going viral on social media.

It has also been reported in the news that recently after the departure of Mamata Banerjee and the coming of the BJP government led by Suvendu Adhikari, many TMC leaders had returned the corruption money taken during Mamata’s tenure.
TMC leader hiding in a pile of sarees due to fear of arrest
In another case, TMC leader Brahmanand Chakraborty hid under a pile of sarees in the warehouse of a clothing store, fearing arrest. But the police found him from there and arrested him. Local people had alleged that Chakraborty was demanding a share of the funds from the beneficiaries of the government housing scheme. When he feared his arrest, he entered a nearby saree shop and covered himself with a pile of sarees. However, it did not take long for the police to catch them.
TMC councilor returned Rs 1 lakh
In another incident, TMC councilor of Mathabhanga Municipality Kakoli Ghosh has returned Rs 1 lakh illegally collected from local people. He has also promised to pay the remaining money in installments.
