Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya praised the Indian athletes for their record-breaking achievements in shooting, archery, and boxing on day 11 of the Asian Games at Aichi-Nagoya on September 30, 2026.
India captured three gold medals in compound archery across the men’s team, women’s team, and mixed team events. The women’s team, consisting of Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Prithika Pradeep, and Chikitha Taniparthi, matched the world record in their event.
Boxers Priya Ghangas and Kapil Pokharya each won bronze medals. In shooting, Neeru Dhanda and Kynan Chenai claimed the mixed team trap gold medal, marking India’s first-ever gold in this category.
Mandaviya congratulated Neeru and Kynan, writing, “HISTORIC GOLD FOR BHARAT! Heartiest congratulations to Neeru and Kynan Chenai on winning the first-ever Gold Medal in the Trap Mixed Team event at the #AsianGames2026. The entire nation is proud of you both! #Cheer4Bharat”.
Neeru, who previously won the historic women’s trap individual gold and silver in the women’s team trap, and Kynan achieved a score of 34, surpassing the Asian Games record of 30 set by Qatar earlier this year. Qatar took silver with a score of 32, and China earned bronze with 23 points.
Mandaviya also congratulated boxer Priya Ghangas for winning bronze in the women’s 60 kg category, stating, “Congratulations to Priya on securing the Bronze Medal in Women’s 60kg Boxing at the #AsianGames2026. #Cheer4Bharat”. Priya lost to China’s Yang Chengyu in the semifinal.
In men’s compound archery, the trio of Sahil Jadhav, Kushal Dalal, and Ganesh Mani Ratnam secured gold by defeating China 238-237 in the final. Mandaviya wrote, “GOLD FOR BHARAT! Heartiest congratulations to Kushal Dalal, Sahil Rajesh Jadhav and Ganesh Maniratnam Thirumuru, on winning the Gold Medal in the Compound Men’s Team event at the Asian Games 2026. A proud moment for Indian archery and for the entire nation.”
To date, India has won 58 medals at the 2026 Asian Games, comprising 10 gold, 21 silver, and 27 bronze medals.
