Tamil Nadu has been witnessing high temperatures in recent days, while some areas have also received rain during the evenings. Against this backdrop, the Chennai Meteorological Centre has forecast heavy rain in isolated areas of 11 districts today, September 30, accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds.
An atmospheric circulation is prevailing over northern Tamil Nadu and adjoining south coastal Andhra Pradesh, along with a trough. This weather system could trigger increased rainfall activity across parts of Tamil Nadu.
The districts likely to receive heavy rain are Nilgiris, Erode, Salem, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Thanjavur, Pudukkottai and Tiruchirappalli.
Thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds reaching 40-50 kmph are also possible in these areas. Similar weather conditions may prevail in Karaikal.
