Just before the FIFA World Cup 2026, two people were killed and 9 injured in two separate shooting incidents in Kansas City, USA. An incident took place near the base camp of the England team, due to which serious questions are being raised regarding security.
Kansas City: There are only a few days left for the FIFA World Cup to start and a shocking news has come from America. Two people have been killed and nine injured in two separate shooting incidents near the England football team’s base camp for the tournament. This incident happened in Kansas City, America. This incident, which happened just before the start of the tournament, has raised serious concerns about the security arrangements in America.
The first shooting occurred early Saturday morning near 79th Street and Truist Avenue in the city. Nine people were injured in the attack which took place near an entertainment centre. It is being told that the condition of three of them is critical. The police have not been able to arrest anyone in this case yet. Subsequently, a second shooting took place on Westport Road late Saturday night, in which two people lost their lives. A high alert has been issued after these incidents occurred within a few hours in the same city.
What is worrying is that the first incident happened just four miles away from the place where the England team is going to practice during the World Cup. The name of this place is ‘Swope Soccer Village’. However, the England team has not yet reached Kansas City. The team is currently in Orlando, Florida and preparing for a friendly match against Costa Rica.
Local police say that these attacks were not targeting football players or the team. But this incident, which happened just before the tournament in a big city hosting the World Cup, has also increased the concern of FIFA. Six important matches including the quarter finals are to be held in Kansas City. Last time champion Argentina also has a match in this city.

This incident also shows the problem of gun violence growing out of control in America. According to the data of ‘Gun Violence Archive’, last year i.e. in 2025 alone, there were more than 400 mass shooting incidents in America. Millions of fans and big players from all over the world are coming for this tournament, so FIFA has ordered to immediately tighten the security arrangements in Kansas City.
