The victim is 61-year-old Kunjamma from Kuthukuzhi Maramangalam Happy Nagar. Police took her 65-year-old husband P V Kuriakose into custody. Kuriakose committed this brutal crime just three weeks after he underwent a bypass surgery.

The incident happened around 2 AM. Police say Kuriakose used a steel kitchen knife to stab Kunjamma at least ten times. Kuriakose himself called his son, who lives abroad, and confessed to the murder. The son immediately called a neighbor. The neighbor rushed to the house and informed the police. Police arrived at the spot and took the accused into custody.

Police registered the FIR based on the statement given by the daughter’s husband. The FIR states that Kuriakose suspected his wife had an affair with another man. Kuriakose also mentioned this suspicion in his statement. Kuriakose had a bypass surgery just three weeks ago. He currently struggles to speak and has a leg injury. Reports also suggest he suffered from post-surgery depression. He committed this shocking murder in the middle of all these health issues.
Police officers said they need to interrogate him in detail to understand the exact reasons behind the murder. Doctors have completed Kunjamma’s post-mortem. The family will conduct the funeral after her son returns from abroad.
