‘Modi says welcome home bhai’: American man’s tweet flexing 5-year Indian visa goes viral

An American man’s excited post about receiving a five-year Indian visa has taken social media by storm, earning praise from Indian users and sparking light-hearted reactions online.

Klor Anthony Louis, who goes by Tony Klor on social media, shared his happiness on X after being granted a long-term B-1 visa to India. What made the post go viral was not just his enthusiasm but also his cheeky comparison between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former US President Donald Trump.

“It’s official! India is opening its doors to foreign blockchain & AI builders. I’ve just been granted a girthy 5-year India visa,” Tony wrote. Adding humour to the moment, he continued, “Trump says foreigners go kick rocks. Modi says welcome home bhai.” He shared the tweet along with a picture of his visa.

The visa, issued on 23 September 2025, is valid until 22 September 2030. It allows him to stay in India for up to 180 days at a time, as per the official rules.

Tony’s tweet quickly went viral, amassing likes and retweets from across the world. Many users congratulated him while praising India’s growing openness to global talent in emerging sectors such as blockchain and artificial intelligence.

One user commented, “Finally, congrats—this is my first time seeing an Indian visa flex.” Another simply wrote, “Welcome home.”

Some highlighted the broader significance of the moment. “India knows the future is being written in blockchain and AI. A 5-year visa like this sends an important signal—while others push talent away, India is saying ‘come build with us’,” a user remarked.

Yet another wrote, “looking at a Indian Visa for the first time! Welcome!! 1.45 Billion chances to make friends in here.”

The B-1 visa category is intended for foreigners seeking to explore or establish business ventures in India.
