Vaibhav Sooryavanshi: 15-year-old young sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who created a stir with his explosive batting while playing for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2026, is currently dominating the cricket corridors around the world. After scoring a lot of runs in the IPL and hitting record-breaking sixes, he has recently been included for the first time in the Indian T20 team for the tour of Ireland and England. Amidst this great success, there are constant discussions in the cricket world about whether this young player can prove to be a long-haul horse in Test cricket too. Now Vaibhav Suryavanshi himself has put an end to all these discussions and has openly spoken about playing Test cricket.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s big statement on test cricket
During a conversation with team manager Romi Bhinder on the official social media channel of Rajasthan Royals, Vaibhav made it clear that his aggressive batting is only as per the demands of the format and he also wants to play Test cricket for Team India. Vaibhav Suryavanshi said, ‘”Many people are asking me and discussing whether I want to play red-ball cricket in the future or not. I have given a straight answer to this that I have already practiced a lot with the red ball and am continuously doing so. I have played a lot of red-ball cricket for Bihar as well and will continue to do so.’
Taking his point further, he said, ‘I want to play Test cricket because I train hard for it. My style of playing in T20 is like this because it is a requirement of that format. When I play red-ball cricket, I will adapt my batting to the conditions and demands of that format. My dream is to play all three formats for India, the rest is in God’s hands.

There are unmatched records in red-ball
Even though the world has seen Vaibhav’s explosive form in IPL 2026, where he scored 776 runs and broke Chris Gayle’s record by hitting 72 sixes in the season, but his record with the red ball is also surprising. Vaibhav became one of the youngest debutants in history by playing Ranji Trophy for Bihar at the age of just 12. In the year 2024, he scored a century in just 58 balls against Australia Under-19 in Chennai, which is the fastest century scored by any Indian in the Youth Test. In the year 2025, he also scored another century in less than 100 balls in Brisbane against Australia Under-19.
