Last weekend belonged almost entirely to Nani’s “The Paradise” at the box office. Despite mixed reactions and criticism, the Nani starrer remained the centre of discussion throughout the weekend.
Against such a major release, a small-budget film without a recognised star cast had a difficult task. “Anumanam Pakshi”, featuring Rag Mayur as the lead, was one such film.
Rag Mayur is largely known for comic and supporting roles, and this film marked a major attempt to present him as the lead hero. However, the film failed to attract audiences after its release on September 25.
The response was poor from the very first day. Reviews were largely negative, with criticism aimed at the film’s writing and execution. The audience turnout was also extremely low, with several shows reportedly recording occupancy in the zero to two percent range.
Produced by Chilaka Productions, “Anumanam Pakshi” has ended up as another setback for the banner.
For Malayalam actress Merin Philip, the film marked her Telugu debut. Unfortunately, her first Telugu outing has also turned out to be a box-office disappointment.
