Skoda, VW recall Kylaq, Slavia, Kushaq, Virtus and Taigun to address seatbelt issue

New Delhi: Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Limited (SAVWIPL) have announced a seat belt-related recall, the second time this year. This affects two of their sedans and three SUVs manufactured in the country. The models include Skoda Kylaq, Kushaq and Slavia, which combined up to 1,821 units, as well as the Volkswagen Virtus and Taigun that were produced between December 2021 and May 2025, according to the data from Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers.

These same models that amounted to 47,235 units had been recalled by SAVWIPL back in May 2025. The SIAM said that concerns were raised during the ongoing quality inspection for Skoda Kushaq, Kylaq and Slavia for the said period. Further, the document noted that the rear seat belt assembly (left and right sides) of 860 Skoda Slavia, Kushaq and Kylaq could have a “frame crack in the metal base” as well as wrong parts were installed for these seatbelts, which could require replacement.

Volkswagen too recall some of their cars

This is the same issue with 961 Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus units, while the imported Volkswagen Golf GTI and Tiguan R Line remain unaffected. In the international market too, Volkswagen had recently recalled Passat, Polo, Taigo, ID 7, ID 7 Tourer and ID Buzz due to a safety issue as well.

Like always, the company is going to directly reach out to the owners of the concerned vehicles in order to fix the issues. Owners could themselves log on to the Skoda India recall and Volkswagen India recall microsites and enter the Vehicle Identification Number or VIN to check if their cars are affected by the issue as well.
