Stock Market today: Sensex and Nifty rise; HDFC Bank, TCS among gainers

Mumbai: The BSE Sensex climbed 156.34 points to 82,379.55 in early trade on July 22, 2025, Tuesday. The NSE Nifty went up 28.50 points to 25,119.20. The benchmark indices gained helped by a rally in Eternal and blue-chip bank stocks.

Positive trends in the Asian markets also added to the equity markets’ optimism during the initial trade.

Gainers from the pack included, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, Tata Steel, Titan, Bharat Electronics, Tata Consultancy Services, Trent, and ICICI Bank. Laggards included, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Mahindra & Mahindra, Bajaj Finance, and Bajaj Finserv.

Hong Kong’s Hang Seng, Japan’s Nikkei 225, and Shanghai’s SSE Composite traded in positive territory while South Korea’s Kospi traded lower. The US stock markets settled mostly higher on Monday.

Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) sold equities worth Rs 1,681.23 crore, while Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) purchased stocks worth Rs 3,578.43 crore.

Global oil benchmark Brent crude declined 0.85 per cent to USD 68.62 a barrel.

On July 22, 2025, the 30-share Sensex gained 442.61 points to end at 82,200.34. The Nifty appreciated 122.30 points to close at 25,090.70.
