The Mahabharata Granth describes many great warriors and their weapons. This war fought between the Kauravas and the Pandavas was very fierce. In the end the Pandavas won.
All the warriors also had some special weapons. Similarly, Arjuna had a bow called Gandiv, which had many characteristics.
This was the specialty
Arjuna’s Gandiv bow was so powerful that no other weapon or weapon could destroy it. On offering it, such a sound or tunker was produced, whose echo was heard throughout the battlefield. Along with Gandiv, Arjuna also had such a quiver, whose arrows never ended.
Therefore it is also known as Akshaya Tarkash. An arrow derived from the Gandiv bow was capable of facing several arrows and penetrating several goals simultaneously. Not only this, weapons like Pashupatastra, Narayanastra and Brahmastra could also be destroyed by Arjuna’s Gandiv.
When there was a discord between the Kauravas and the Pandavas when the state partition. Then Mama Shakuni suggested to Dhritarashtra that he should hand over the Pandavas to Khandavaprastra, so that he would calm down. Khandavaprastha was the same as a forest.
The Pandavas had a big challenge to make this forest a city. Then Lord Krishna invites Vishwakarma. Vishwakarma appears and suggests Lord Krishna that he can seek help from Mayasura to settle the city. Because Mayasura also wanted to settle a city here.
When Mayasura came to know that the Pandava wanted to settle a city in Khandavaprastha, he was very happy. He takes Shri Krishna, Arjuna and Vishwakarma to a ruin and shows them a chariot located there. Mayasura told Sri Krishna that this gold chariot used to be of the anterior Maharaja Som. The specialty of this chariot is that it can take the person to his desired place. At the same time, Mayasura also showed him the weapons kept in the chariot.
This is how Gandiv was found
There was a mace in the chariot, which was a mace of Kaumud. Nobody could lift this mace other than Bhimsen. Along with this, Mayasura also showed the Gandiv bow kept in the chariot and said that this divine bow was attained by Daityaraja Vrishaparva with the worship of Lord Shankar.
Then Lord Krishna picked up the bow and gave it to Arjuna and said that this bow will be suitable for you. Mayasura also gave Arjuna an renewable quiver, whose arrows never ended. Later, Lord Vishwakarma and Mayasura together worked to build Indraprastha city.
