Veteran actor Raghubir Yadav has revealed that despite his decades of experience, he still feels nervous before beginning a new acting project.
The actor, who has been receiving positive response for his show “Hunkkaar – The Roar”, spoke about his approach to acting during an interaction with IANS alongside co-stars Fatima Sana Shaikh and Zoya Hussain in Mumbai.
Asked whether he still gets the jitters before starting a new acting gig, Raghubir said the nervousness usually begins on the first day and lasted longer while working on “Hunkkaar”.
“On the first day, yes. On this one, the nervousness lingered on for a little longer. I feel, ‘I don’t know if I will be able to maintain that honesty or not’ because there are a lot of things that come in front of you in order to get into that character,” he said.
Raghubir explained that his personal life is very different from that of his character, requiring him to make a considerable effort to understand and portray the role authentically.
“My life is completely different from this character. But there are a lot of things that come in front of you, that don’t bear witness to you, and that make your intentions like that. So, I had to put in a lot of effort for this one,” he said.
The actor added that he tries to approach even similar characters differently rather than simply repeating a previous performance.
“Even if I have done a character and I have to do a similar character again, I try not to do it like that. I try to change the effort that I have to put in. So, this has always been my nature,” he said.
For Raghubir, the process of getting into a character is what makes acting enjoyable.
“You have to put in a lot of effort to get into the character. That is the game, and actors always enjoy that,” he added.
