Eleven days have passed since the website of e-Municipality software of Madhya Pradesh Urban Administration and Development Department was hacked. Despite this, there has been no improvement in the system. Consumers of municipal bodies are making rounds of municipal bodies for essential works. Those who are returning after seeing the board of server shutdown and technical fault on the window of the corporation.
Actually, on December 21, there was a cyber attack on the software of the municipal body. Due to this, e-municipality services were halted in the state. Due to hacking of the website, civic services were halted in 412 urban bodies of the state except Bhopal. Which have not been restored yet. Due to website hacking, services of property tax, marriage certificate, water connection, bill payment and trade license have been affected.
On one hand, the consumers of the state are troubled due to the halt of e-municipal services and their important work has got stuck, while on the other hand, the treasury of the corporation is also empty. Collection from property tax and water tax has come to a standstill. The placards installed at the property tax and water tax collection counter of Khandwa Municipal Corporation office tell their own story. On one counter there is a board of technical fault, while on the other counter there is a board of server being down.
Consumers are returning after seeing these placards. A consumer said that he has been making rounds of the corporation for the last four days to deposit property tax. But, no one is available at the counter. Ashok Tare, market officer in-charge of Municipal Corporation Khandwa, said that for the last one week, computers are not working due to technical glitches.
Tare further said that a manual book has been issued to the people for recovery of property tax, water tax and shop rent. Due to which recovery has started. On the lines of Khandwa Municipal Corporation, other urban bodies of the state have also started collecting important works like property tax, water tax on manual receipt.
