The government has earned record earnings from GST in the year 2023. Talking about the month of December, this is the 8th time when GST collection has exceeded Rs 1.60 lakh crore. If we talk about the total collection for the entire year, about Rs 19.63 lakh crore has come to the government treasury. If we talk about the current financial year, a collection of around Rs 15 lakh crore has been seen. Whereas in the same period of the last financial year, the same collection was Rs 13.40 lakh crore. In the current financial year, an average collection of Rs 1.66 lakh crore has been made. Which saw a collection of Rs 1.49 lakh crore in the same period of the last financial year.

How much was collected in December?
Gross GST revenue in December 2023 is expected to be Rs 1,64,882 crore, out of which CGST is Rs 30,443 crore, SGST is Rs 37,935 crore, IGST is Rs 84,255 crore (including collection on import of goods Rs 41,534 crore). Cess amounts to Rs 12,249 crore (including collection on import of goods amounting to Rs 1,079 crore). The Finance Ministry said that this is the 8th month of the current calendar year and the seventh month of the financial year when the collection is more than Rs 1.60 lakh crore. The revenue for December 2023 is 10.3 percent more than the GST revenue of the same month last year.
How much did the states earn?
If we talk about the states, the GSTT collection in Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh has seen an increase of more than 10 percent in the month of December as compared to the same period last year. An increase of 67 percent has been seen in GST collection in Arunachal Pradesh. This increase of 127 percent has been seen in Ladakh. In Lakshadweep this increase has been more than 300 percent. However, the highest GST collection in Maharashtra has been Rs 26814 crore, which is the highest. After that it is Karnataka’s turn. Where a collection of Rs 11759 crore has been made. Apart from these two, GST collection in no other state was more than Rs 10 thousand crore.
