This mango is grown in Japan
- Each Miyazaki mango weighs approximately 250 grams. Like other varieties of mango, it does not turn yellow or green when ripe, rather its color becomes dark red and purple.
- This precious fruit is mainly grown in Japan, but with the success of Singh, its cultivation has now started in Ayodhya also.
- In May last year, Farooq Inamdar, a farmer and former local leader from Varvand village in Maharashtra’s Pune district, had also successfully grown 120 mango trees on just 20 gunthas (half an acre) of land. Of these, 90 varieties are international, while 30 are from India.
This mango is sold more than Rs 2 lakh
- Let us tell you that Miyazaki mango is known for its skyrocketing price. In Japan it is sold for Rs 2.7 lakh per kg and in India for about Rs 1.5 lakh per kg.
- Inamdar was inspired to cultivate these rare varieties during his Haj pilgrimage, where he saw a huge range of mangoes from across the world. Inspired by this, he ordered saplings from different countries and started growing them in his farm in Pune.
Mangoes from Australia to Africa in their garden
- After two years, the trees successfully bore fruit. Now global varieties like Red African, Red Taiwan, Arunika, Banana Mango, A2 R2 of Australia, Katomony of Bangladesh and Shahjahan are also present in his farm.
- While most foreign mangoes cost several thousand rupees per kg, Miyazaki stands out for its premium price. One kilo contains four to six mangoes weighing approximately 300 grams.
- Inamdar also mentioned another high yielding tree, ‘Koyatur’, which gives 8-10 kg of mangoes in a season and the price of one fruit ranges between Rs 1,500 to Rs 5,000.
- Encouraged by his success, he plans to grow more rare mango varieties from around the world. Inamdar also clarified that despite several demands from online buyers, he has decided to keep all the mangoes for his personal use this time.
