Tesla Opens Sixth India Experience Centre In Chennai, Targets Pre-Diwali Delivery For September Orders

 its sixth experience centre in the country at Chennai’s Express Avenue Mall, strengthening its sales and after-sales footprint in Tamil Nadu.

The electric vehicle maker already operates such centres in Mumbai, Delhi, Gurugram, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. The launch comes as about 680 Tesla cars have been registered in India so far this calendar year, according to Vahan data.

Customers in Chennai and across Tamil Nadu will now be able to explore, book and receive Tesla vehicles locally.

The company has also started a Tesla-approved collision centre and service facility at Poonamallee, offering genuine parts, trained technicians, software-based diagnostics and collision repair.

“This is our sixth experience centre in India and the third in the south. We are very excited that we are coming closer and closer to our customers here in Tamil Nadu and Chennai,” said Sharad Agarwal, India Managing Director, Tesla.

Agarwal said the company was expanding its charging network, which currently has five Supercharging stations with 20 stalls, while also widening home-charging options.

Tesla sells two models in India. The Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive costs Rs 50.89 lakh with a claimed WLTP range of up to 500 km, while the three-row, six-seat Model Y L is priced from Rs 61.99 lakh and claims a range of up to 681 km.

Agarwal noted that more than 70 per cent of issues could potentially be resolved remotely, with mobile service available and workshop visits needed only in more serious cases. He added that Tesla’s AI assistant can interact in several Indian languages.
