In the interest of sugarcane farmers, the Uttar Pradesh government has released a new sugarcane speculation and supply policy for the crushing session 2025-26. The new sugarcane policy is being described as farmer friendly.

The reason is that there has been talk of giving priority to small farmers and women.

Deputy Sugarcane Commissioner, Moradabad Harpal Singh said that in the new policy, special benefits have been given to the new farmer members of the sugarcane committee. They will get the benefit of speculative to the extent of 70 percent of the average sugarcane supply of the concerned sugar mill or 70 percent of the district’s sugarcane productivity. About two lakh new farmers become members of the state every year. This decision will directly benefit them.

In the policy, special priority has been given to small women farmers and very small farmers. Small sugarcane farmers (81 quintal speculative holders) will be given parachings of Pedi sugarcane in one to three sides and plant sugarcane slips will be given in seven to nine sides. This will benefit 13.12 lakh small farmers of the state. For the first time, very small farmers (36 quintals or four slips) and short women farmers (81 quintals or nine slip) will be given 100 % paid sugarcane slips on the initial aspects, freeing them from Pedi and plant ratio 52:48.

This decision will benefit 3.75 lakh very small farmers and 6268 women farmers. Family calendars will be provided to farmers applying for mechanical harvesting for the first time in crushing session 2025-26. This will provide facilities in farming to farmers amid lack of laborers. Also, farmers who were able to supply sugarcane only in the crushing session 2024-25, their quota will be determined by the average or the supply of that year, whatever is higher. With the new supply policy, it is the government’s endeavor that sugarcane should be available on time to sugar mills and farmers can also get fair price of their produce on time.

Sugarcane variety. 1515023 priority

The variety developed by the Sugarcane Research Council has been kept in the early cadre in view of the early maturity of .15023. Under this, Pedi sugarcane slips will be issued in one to two sides and plant sugarcane slips will be issued in seven to eight sides. This decision will benefit about 3.66 lakh farmers and sugar mills will benefit from high recovery rate.

Facility for new members and big farmers

The slips of the new members who have a pedi or autumn plant will be placed in the fifth to the 12th side for the first time. Those who have sugarcane, their slips will be given from the seventh side like last year. This will benefit about one lakh new farmers. Facility has also been provided for big farmers. A maximum of eight slips can be given to 2500 quintals or more basic speculative holders in a column.
