Ekadashi vrat benefits: According to the almanac, today on 3 October 2025, on Friday, Ekadashi date of Shukla Paksha of Ashwin month is falling. This Ekadashi is called Papankusha Ekadashi. It is believed that by worshiping and fasting Lord Vishnu on this day, all sins of life are destroyed and the devotee attains salvation. How to do Papankusha Ekadashi Fasting of?
Pledge to fast: One day before Ekadashi, ie on Dwadashi, eat satvik food and follow celibacy. On the day of Ekadashi, first take a bath and wear clean clothes. After this, take water, flowers and intact in your hand and take a pledge to fast.
Pooja and Archana: Clean the temple or place of worship of the house. Light a lamp of ghee in front of Lord Vishnu’s statue or picture. Offer yellow flowers, basil Dal, fruits and sweets (enjoyment) to them.
Mantra Chanting: On this day, chant the mantra ‘Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevaya’ as much as possible. It is also considered very auspicious to recite the story of Vishnu Sahasranama and Ekadashi fast.
Awakening: If possible, awaken at night and perform hymns and kirtans of Lord Vishnu.
Falahar: One should stay unhappy throughout the day (without eating anything). If this is not possible, fruit can be done.
Paran: On the day of Dwadashi (4 October 2025), in the auspicious time, after giving food and donation to a Brahmin or a poor, pass the fast only. Eat sattvic food made of rice or grains in the passion.

The word ‘Papankusha’ is made up of two words: ‘sin’ which means evil or misdeeds, and ‘Ankush’ which means to control or stop. By observing the fast of this Ekadashi, the accumulated and current sins of the person seems to be ‘Ankush’.
Freedom from sins: According to the Padma Purana, this fast is going to destroy all sins. A person who observes this fast, gets freedom from all kinds of sins and he gets Vishnu Loka, leaving the cycle of birth and death.
The grace of Lord Vishnu: On this day Lord Padmanabha (a form of Lord Vishnu) is worshiped. It is believed that by worshiping them, a person gets happiness, prosperity, long life and good health in life.
Prevention of sufferings: Fasting of Papankusha Ekadashi removes all the sorrows, poverty and crisis of life.
Fruits similar to Yajna: This fast is considered fruitful equal to doing penance for thousands of years or performing many yagyas.

What to do:
- Must include Tulsi Dal in the worship of Lord Vishnu.
- Must donate to a poor or needy. Donating food, clothes or money is very virtuous.

What not to do:
