Domestic LPG Cylinder
Domestic LPG (LPG) has become expensive once again. The price of 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder has been increased by Rs 29 across the country. The new rates have come into effect from June 7. This is the second time in the last three months that the prices of domestic gas cylinders have been increased. This increase will impact crores of families who depend on LPG for everyday cooking.
Government oil marketing companies have implemented this increase. However, due to local taxes and transportation expenses, there may be slight difference in prices in different cities.
Why did LPG prices increase?
According to industry sources, this decision has been taken due to increasing cost pressure on oil companies. Companies say that the increase in prices was necessary to compensate for the losses incurred on the sale of domestic LPG. However, the entire burden of increased energy prices in the international market has not yet been passed on to consumers.

Prices had increased in March also
Earlier on March 7, the price of domestic LPG cylinder was increased by Rs 60. At that time, due to increased tension in West Asia, global energy supply was affected, due to which fuel prices increased in the international market.
How much will it affect the household budget?
Families who use one LPG cylinder every month will have to spend an additional Rs 348 in a year. The amount may not seem very big, but amidst rising inflation and increasing expenditure on daily needs, it can put additional burden on the budget of middle and lower income group families.
What should consumers do?
The new prices have come into effect with immediate effect. Due to different taxes and transportation charges in different states, rates may vary slightly in small cities and towns. Therefore, before booking a cylinder, consumers must check the latest price on the portal of their LPG distributor or oil company.
It is noteworthy that apart from LPG, the prices of petrol, diesel and CNG have also increased in recent times, due to which the pressure on the household budget of common people may increase further.
