Anil Kapoor recently shared a heartfelt memory of late filmmaker Raj Kapoor’s wife, Krishna Kapoor, recalling the affection and generosity she showed toward everyone around her. The veteran actor described Krishna as a mother figure in his life and said her approach to hosting guests left a lasting impression on him.
The actor spoke about her during India Ke Top 1% – The Anil Kapoor Show, after contestant Nishant discussed what he planned to do if he won the show’s Rs. 1 crore prize.
A contestant’s love for feeding others
During the conversation, Nishant said that his first priority after winning the money would be to clear his home loan. He then revealed that he hoped to use the remaining amount to open a restaurant.
Explaining his interest in the food business, Nishant admitted that he did not know how to cook but genuinely enjoyed serving food to other people. His comment prompted Anil Kapoor to recall someone whose hospitality he had experienced closely over the years.
The actor immediately connected the idea of feeding others with Krishna Kapoor, a close friend of his mother and a member of the prominent Kapoor family.
Anil Kapoor remembers Krishna Kapoor
Speaking about Krishna, Anil described her as someone who held a special place in his life. He recalled that she was a close friend of his mother and the mother of actors Randhir Kapoor and the late Rishi Kapoor.
Anil said Krishna was much more than a family acquaintance to him and described her as being like a mother. He also remembered the way she would make guests feel comfortable whenever they gathered around her dining table.
According to Anil, Krishna would pay close attention to everyone she was serving, repeatedly checking whether they had eaten enough and encouraging them to try the different dishes available.
‘I have never seen a better host’
Anil spoke warmly about Krishna’s generosity and said he had never encountered a host quite like her. For him, her pleasure came from making sure other people were well fed and comfortable.
Recalling those meals, the actor said Krishna served food with affection and an open heart. He added that there could be a special satisfaction in feeding someone that goes beyond the enjoyment of eating itself.
Anil also referred to the familiar saying that the way to a person’s heart is through their stomach, using it to describe the connection he associated with Krishna’s hospitality.
His recollection offered a personal glimpse into the close relationships that existed between the Kapoor and Kapoor-connected families within the Hindi film industry.

Krishna Kapoor was married to legendary filmmaker and actor Raj Kapoor and was part of one of Hindi cinema’s most prominent families. She was the mother of actors Randhir, Rishi and Rajiv Kapoor, as well as Ritu Nanda and Reema Jain.
While Krishna largely stayed away from the spotlight compared with several members of her family, she was known within her social circle for her family-oriented nature and hospitality.
