Choreographer Shrishti Verma has raised questions on the makers of Peddi, which has created a stir. He wrote in a post- ‘Jani Master’s presence in the film Peddi has increased my anxiety. I am the complainant in the POCSO case going against him. Despite serious allegations and sexual harassment being revealed against him in the industry’s POSH investigation, many big stars and people associated with the industry are still working with him, this is very shocking. She further said- ‘I am trying to get justice through law. In such a situation, people’s continuous support to him is becoming a problem for me. I think the entertainment industry should take allegations and consequences of sexual misconduct seriously and ensure the safety of victims.
Who is Jani Master?
Jani Master is a famous choreographer who has choreographed in many films including the hit song ‘Butta Bomma’ from the film Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo. In 2024, a POCSO complaint was filed against Jani at Hyderabad’s Raidurgam police station for alleged sexual harassment and misconduct. The complaint stated that he had misbehaved with a minor. He was arrested and detained by Telangana Police in Goa on 19 September 2024. On 24 October 2024, the Telangana High Court granted him bail.

With the entry of Jhanvi Kapoor’s character Achiamma in the film, questions started being raised on the story. After the uproar, director Buchi Babu Sana issued a statement confirming the removal of the objectionable scenes. Jhanvi has not yet given any statement on this matter. If some sources are to be believed, Jhanvi expressed her displeasure about her scenes in Peddi and requested to tone down the scenes, but the makers did not pay attention to her. Meanwhile, if we talk about the collection of the film, it has earned a net collection of Rs 125.25 crore in India in three days. Its worldwide gross collection has become 191.07 crores.
