We’re talking about Maruti’s new CNG Automatic cars. Another relief is that these cars are quite accessible, making them some of the cheapest CNG Automatic cars available in India. We have already given an idea of what it would cost to bring the CNG AMT Dzire home, and today we’ll look at the on-road prices of the Maruti Swift CNG automatic variants.

The Maruti Swift CNG automatic variants use the same 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder NA petrol engine as the manual CNG variants. However, in the automatic avatar, the Swift returns a claimed mileage of 35.34 km/kg, which is 2.49 km/kg more than its CNG manual version (32.85 km/kg). That’s a meaningful bump in mileage. Within Maruti’s own CNG AMT trio, the Swift sits in the middle, with the and the Baleno trailing slightly behind. Note that these are claimed, ARAI-certified figures, and real-world mileage will vary depending on driving style.
Apart from that, the usual CNG trade-off applies here too, with boot space taking a hit. The 55-litre CNG tank sits in the boot alongside the spare wheel, so usable luggage space is well down from the regular petrol Swift. Unlike the Swift’s closest rival, the ,which uses a twin-cylinder underfloor tank that frees up some boot space. However, Maruti has re-tuned the suspension to cope with the added weight, and the car also gets a CNG fuel-level indicator and a fuel-mode switch.
