World Food Safety Day is celebrated every year on 7th June. Its purpose is to make people aware about the diseases caused by contaminated food and at the same time to promote safe eating so that people eat healthy and stay healthy. From farm to plate… along with the quality of food, cleanliness is most important. In this article, you will know which rules are very important to follow at home to eat safely.
Recently, some figures were released by the World Health Organization WHO, in which it was told that every year about 86 crore people become sick due to contaminated food and in case of serious condition, about 15 lakh people die. Food containing adulterated chemicals and bacteria is already available in the markets, regarding which the Food Safety Organization keeps running campaigns from time to time. Along with this, we should also be aware about this. Let us know which rules should be remembered while cooking at home.
Follow the correct way of washing hands
It is very important that both elders and small children should have the habit of washing hands before preparing food and before eating it. Generally, this rule is followed in most of the houses, but many times we touch the food items knowingly or unknowingly, due to which the bacteria gets into our body after getting into the food. It is important to wash your hands thoroughly with soap before touching any food item (even while cutting vegetables). The most important thing is to clean your hands by rubbing them for at least 40 to 60 seconds so that all the bacteria are removed.
Fruits and vegetables cleaning
Fruits and vegetables coming from outside may not only contain chemicals (pesticides), but these things also pass through many hands. Due to this, bacteria also get infected. Just washing vegetables with water after bringing them home does not work. Dissolve vinegar or baking soda in water in a bowl and dip fruits and vegetables in it for some time and then cook or eat them after washing with plain water.

correct way to store
Whether you are storing raw fruits and vegetables or want to store prepared food. It is important that you keep food safe from insects and bacteria. For this, keep any food item well covered. If you are storing fruits and vegetables, then use airtight containers or wrap the food with cling film. Keep in mind that food should be stored at mild to cool temperatures so that bacteria do not grow in it.
Kitchen appliance cleaning
Apart from cleaning the utensils after cooking, every appliance used in the kitchen should also be cleaned and sanitized. Like kitchen counter, knife, chopping board are such things which many times people do not clean after every use, but this mistake should not be made. Due to this, bacteria can grow which reach the body along with food and cause illness.
cook these things properly
If you want things like sprouts, meat, fish, eggs, you should not only clean them thoroughly but also eat them after cooking them completely. These things contain some harmful bacteria which are not removed just by washing. These bacteria-viruses can be destroyed only by cooking.
