A job description has gone viral for its extreme list of requirements, with many people online slamming it as “toxic” and “dystopian”. The ad, posted for the role of a founding engineer, demanded candidates willing to work seven days a week, reply to messages at 3 am and put work above everything else.
A screenshot of the posting was shared on Reddit by a user who admitted he still applied despite recognising the company was asking for too much. “Although they have the same requirements for every opening. I did apply since I was desperate for a job,” the user explained.
Work seven days a week — with brunch as a perk
I really have no words

The ad began with a blunt expectation: employees must work all seven days. While weekends would not be off, the listing did mention candidates could still “grab a brunch or dinner” on Saturdays and Sundays.
Only ‘A-players’ wanted
The company said it was not looking to hire average employees. “We’d rather hire 1 A-player and pay an above-market amount (that someone is very happy with) than hire 3 B-players and pay market,” it read.
Nearly 24×7 grind encouraged
The listing openly glorified burnout. It said employees must show “drive” and “grind”, describing the culture as one where it was acceptable to work or text at night and on weekends. “It’s ok to send messages at 3am,” the job post declared.
Candidates were also expected to be “shameless” and “extremely annoying if it means winning,” juggle multiple roles, and accept “fast firing” if they failed to meet expectations. The company added that every decision would prioritise customer benefit over employee comfort.
Online backlash
The ad has drawn widespread criticism on social media, with users branding it “unrealistic”, “toxic” and “glorification of burnout”. Many argued that such expectations were unsustainable and harmful for anyone hoping to maintain a work-life balance.
