IND vs WI, Day 1: India seize control before lunch as Siraj rattles West Indies top order

New Delhi: It was all Men In Blue in the morning session of the first Test against West Indies as after losing the toss Shubman Gill’s side started off the day with bowling first and that too paid off handsomely. By lunch, the visitors were reeling at 90 for 5, with Mohammed Siraj leading the charge with a fiery three-wicket burst. Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav chipped in with one wicket each, ensuring India walked off the field firmly on top.

Despite losing yet another toss marking Gill’s sixth in a row as captain but India couldn’t have asked for a better start. The surface in Antigua offered just enough movement and bounce for the pacers, and Gill’s instinct to bowl first proved spot-on. Siraj made the new ball talk, finding both seam and swing, and West Indies’ top order simply had no answers.
