New Delhi: Indian shooters continued their medal spree at the in Japan on Monday, September 21. The Indian men’s team won a silver medal in the 10m air rifle team event before shooters Himanshu Dhillon and Rudrankksh Patil ensured a double podium finish for India in the men’s individual 10m air rifle category.
The trio of Dhillon, Patil and Parth Mane won India’s first medal at the Games on Monday by securing a silver medal in the men’s 10m air rifle team event. Patil led India’s charge with 631.8 points, while Dhillon scored 630.0 in the men’s team event final. Mane added 628.3 points to help India secure the silver medal with a combined total of 1890.1 points.
China won the gold medal with a world-record 1899.0 points, while South Korea bagged the bronze medal with 1884.2 points. It was the second team medal for India in shooting after the Indian women’s team won a silver medal in the 10m air rifle category on Sunday.

It was a double delight for India in shooting after their silver in the team event as shooters Himanshu Dhillon and Rudrankksh Patil ensured a double podium finish in the men’s 10m air rifle individual event. Dhillon finished second to win silver while former world champion Patil bagged the bronze medal.
Dhillon finished second with 252.4 points, losing the gold medal to China’s Lihao Sheng, who scored 254.2 in the men’s 10m air rifle final. The double podium finish extended India’s medal tally to six at the Asian Games after Suchika Tariyal won the bronze medal in the women’s 60kg traditional MMA event.

Tariyal settled for a bronze medal in the women’s traditional 60kg MMA event at the Asian Games 2026 after losing to Singapore’s Hui Hoon in the quarterfinal. It was a gruelling contest between the two fighters, but Hoon managed to edge the Indian on the account of her lower weight.
Tariyal scripted history by becoming the first athlete to win a medal in MMA for India at the Asian Games.
