Electricity and internet in every village of Ladakh! Modi government changed the whole picture in 5 years

Ladakh changed in 5 years!

Ladakh, where the mobile signal never came, has been connected to the Internet today. In far-flung villages, people are now talking online, children are able to study online, even the administration is able to handle work in digital ways. Under the Bharatnate Project of the Central Government, all 193 gram panchayats of Ladakh have been linked to satellite internet. That is, now internet facility is available in every village. Even 175 new mobile towers have been installed in the villages where there were no mobile towers. Now mobile signals have reached the high mountains and border areas of Ladakh. This is directly benefiting those people who used to feel cut off from the world till now.

Ladakh’s darkness is over

Ladakh had the most trouble with electricity during the winter season. It has always been a challenge to provide electricity here due to snowfall and cold. But now the government has taken big steps in this direction as well. In 2019, the government started a 335 km long transmission line from Srinagar to Leh. Due to which electricity is being provided permanently in Ladakh in the last 5 years.

Now the government is also engaged in connecting inaccessible areas like Nubra and Janskar with this electricity system. New 220 kW lines are being made for this. Also, 66 kW lines are being laid from Himaya to Nyoma and Kharu to Bibuk. An electric grid is now reaching the villages near the border. In particular, two new transmission lines are being made from Fiyang to Discuit (Nubra) and Dras to Padum (Zanskar), which the government is targeting to complete by next year.

Ladakh shining with sunlight

Apart from this, the government now wants to make Ladakh a hub of solar energy. There is a lot of possibility of solar energy here, because sunlight is plentiful. In view of this, a large solar project has been started in Taru area. In this, 25 MW AC solar plant, 50 MW peak capacity, and 40 MW and battery energy storage system (BESS) are being built. This project is being prepared through Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). When this work is completed, Ladakh will be able to fulfill its energy needs himself and will also be able to give green energy to the rest of the country. This will not damage the environment and employment in the area

Small business benefits in Ladakh

In the last 5 years, small and medium industries (MSME) have increased rapidly in Ladakh. So far, more than 18,500 businesses have been registered, which are employing more than 54,000 people. With the help of the government, people are getting easy loans and plans, which has increased self -reliance. In the last few years, about 10,000 people have started their work with Khadi Gramodyog Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Employment Guarantee Program. This not only provided employment to himself, but also gave others a chance to give work. Under the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana, more than 4,000 traditional artisans have received training up to Rs 3 lakh, toolkit and skills. This causes the old skills to be alive again
