TVK chief and actor Vijay have postponed all political rallies for the next two weeks in the stampede in Karur, Tamil Nadu on 27 September, five days after 41 people were killed and more than 100 injuries.

Along with this, his statewide election campaign has also been banned.
TVK announced to give 20 lakh rupees to the family of those killed in stampede
Vijay is yet to meet the families of the dead and the injured. The party has announced a relief amount of Rs 20 lakh. Apart from TVK, the Congress party also announced earlier that they have given a total of Rs 1.25 crore to the affected families. Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also announced an ex -gratia amount of Rs 2 lakh for him, while the injured will get Rs 50,000.
TVK posted on social media about stopping its rallies for some time and expressed grief over the incident. The party posted in Tamil on X, ‘In this hour of grief, when we are in the grief of losing our loved ones. Our party leader’s next two -week public meeting program is being temporarily postponed. We inform you with the approval of our party leader that new information about this public meeting will be given later.
V. Senthilbalaji said- Stampede case should not be politicized
Earlier, at a press conference in Karur, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) MLA and party district secretary V. Senthilbalaji said that ‘this situation should not be politicized’. The minister said, ‘I do not want to see it politically. Out of 41 victims, 39 were from Karur. Without accusing anyone, we have to make sure that such incidents do not happen in the coming days. This situation should not be politicized. Regardless of any party program in future, we should take necessary steps to stop such incidents.
He further said that it is the responsibility of the political party who rally to guess how many people will gather in the program.
He further said, ‘When there is a public meeting, it is the responsibility of a political party to guess how many people will gather and choose the place accordingly. Karur Lighthouse Corner can stand at most 7,000 people, while only 5,000 people can accumulate near Ujhwar Sandhi.

He further stated that the first TVK had changed the place where he wanted to rally, as he first sought permission to rally on Karur Lighthouse Corner, later in Ujhwar Sandhi (farmers’ market) and then in Velusamipuram area. He again appealed not to allow such incidents to happen again and urged people to take necessary steps in any political party program. Tamil Nadu Minister K.N. Nehru on Wednesday targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and accused him of politicizing the case. The minister said, ‘The people of Tamil Nadu will not accept such political tactics. They know the truth.
