Aadhar card.
A top official of the Aadhaar Custodian Organization said that UIDAI is working on a project to start biometric updates of children after two months after two months. Bhuvanesh Kumar, CEO of UIDAI, Indian Unique Identification Authority, informed that more than 7 crore children have not updated their biometrics for Aadhaar, which is mandatory after the age of 5 years. Let us also tell you what kind of master plan has been prepared by UIDAI.
Aadhaar card will be updated in schools
Kumar said that through UIDAI schools, parents are working on the project to update biometrics of children with the consent of parents. We are testing this technique and it will be ready in 45-60 days. Timely completion of mandatory biometric updates (MBU) is an essential requirement to maintain the accuracy and reliability of children’s biometric data. If the MBU is not completed even after the age of 7 years, according to the current rules, the Aadhaar number can be deactivated. If the MBU is done between the ages of five and seven years, then it is free, but after the age of seven years, there is a fixed fee for update for updates.
Many schemes get benefit
Aadhaar makes life easier with updated biometric identity and ensures uninterrupted use of Aadhaar in availing services such as admission in school, registration for entrance examinations, taking advantage of scholarship, direct benefit transfer (DBT) schemes etc., wherever applied. Kumar said that we are planning to pursue the same process for second MBU in schools and colleges, which is done after the age of 15 years of children.
Why Aadhaar update is necessary
Currently, the basis of newborns and children below 5 years of age is made without their biometrics. Kumar said that Aadhaar is important to provide benefits under many government schemes. We want children to get all the benefits at the right time. Through schools, we are trying to reach more and more children in a convenient way. Under this project, UIDAI will send biometric machines to each district, which will be rotated from one school to another.
