Jamaica Kingsmen Secure CPL 2026 Final Spot with Win Over Guyana Amazon Warriors

Bridgetown, September 19 (Daily Kiran) : In an exciting match on September 19, 2026, the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) saw the Jamaica Kingsmen face off against the Guyana Amazon Warriors in Qualifier 2 at Kensington Oval.

The Kingsmen emerged victorious, defeating the Warriors by five wickets and securing a place in the finals.

Guyana, which had performed well during the league stage, ended its season on a disappointing note with this loss, marking their third consecutive defeat.

Winning the toss, Jamaica opted to bowl first. Guyana aimed to bounce back from their previous matches and set a formidable total. Shimron Hetmyer played a pivotal role in this effort, scoring a blistering century. Coming in at number four, Hetmyer smashed an unbeaten 102 runs off just 45 balls, featuring eight sixes and four fours. Alongside him, Shai Hope contributed 44 runs off 33 balls, while Quentin Sampson added 29 runs from 17 balls. Together, they propelled Guyana to a total of 206 runs for four wickets.

Chasing a target of 207, Jamaica started strong with opener Maj Sadakat scoring 41 runs off 17 balls. Fellow opener Kirk McKenzie added 34 runs off 20 balls. The momentum continued as KC Carty scored 56 runs from 40 balls, hitting three sixes and five fours, while Saeem Ayub chipped in with 23 runs off 17 balls.

In the crucial final overs, captain Rovman Powell sealed the victory with a rapid 40 runs off just 17 balls, including four sixes and two fours. This brought Jamaica’s score to 207 runs for five wickets in 19.4 overs, clinching the win.

The Jamaica Kingsmen will face the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons in the CPL 2026 final, scheduled for Monday at 7 AM IST.
