Trump Tarifs On India: There may be a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump in Malaysia during the ASEAN Summit. This will be the first meeting after Trump imposed 50% tariff on India.

Asean Summit 2025: US President Donald Trump and Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi may meet at the end of this month. ASEAN Summit is going to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 26-27 October. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will go to Malaysia to join it. He will interact with the leaders of ASEAN countries.

Prime Minister Modi is going to visit Malaysia for the 47th ASEAN Summit on 26-27 October. Malaysia has also invited President Trump to attend this summit. If Trump confirms his participation, this will be the first multilateral platform where the two leaders will be face to face after the 50% tariff imposed by Washington on India.

During the ASEAN summit, talks between Trump and Narendra Modi regarding tariffs are possible. The US has imposed a 50% tariff on goods imported from India. 25 percent of mutual tariff is imposed. 25 percent of tariffs have been imposed due to importing oil from Russia.

Indo-US relations affected by Trump’s tariff

India and the US relations have been affected by Trump’s tariff. Trump has increased closely with Pakistan in the recent past. He has targeted India for buying crude oil from Russia. India has repeatedly criticized to continue buying oil from Russia. Warned that such purchases would weaken international efforts to pressurize Moscow to end war in Ukraine.

On the other hand, India has clearly stated that crude oil imports from Russia will not stop. On the tariff imposed by Trump, India has said that we are not going to bow under pressure. Negotiations are going on between India and the US about the trade agreement.
