Pok protests: There was a fierce protest against the Pakistan government in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) on Wednesday for the third consecutive day. During this time the Pakistani army opened heavy firing on citizens. 8 people have died due to this. According to NDTV report, 4 people died in Dhirkot in Bagh district. At the same time, 2-2 protesters have died in Muzaffarabad and Mirpur. Two people died in Muzaffarabad on Tuesday. Due to this, the figure of total deaths has reached 10.
Why protests are taking place in PoK?
The people of Pakistan -occupied Kashmir have risen against the violation of the fundamental rights being made by the government there. In the last 72 hours, there have been massive protests led by the United Awami Action Committee (JAAC). Markets, shops and local businesses have come to a standstill as well as transport services.
Large shipping containers were placed on the bridges on the road leading to Muzaffarabad to stop the protesters. On Wednesday morning, protesters threw stones and threw the containers into the river. JAAC has blamed the firing by Pakistani Rangers for the deaths in Muzaffarabad. At the same time, the heavy shelling on citizens by Pak security forces, including the army, has been held responsible for other deaths.

What are the demands of the people performing in PoK?
There are 38 demands from people performing in PoK. These include abolishing 12 seats of PoK assembly reserved for Kashmiri refugees living in Pakistan. Local people argue that this weakens the representative rule. JAAC leader Shaukat Nawaz Mir said, “Our campaign is for the fundamental rights that have not been given to our people for 70 years. Either give rights or face people’s anger.”
