Abhimanyu Singh Discusses His Challenging Role in Devi and the Bollywood-South Cinema Divide

Actor Abhimanyu Singh is renowned for his powerful performances. Whether portraying a villain or a serious character, he has carved a special place in the hearts of audiences. Currently, he is in the spotlight for the second season of his web series ‘Inspector Avinash.’

In a recent interview, he candidly discussed the working styles of Bollywood and the South  , his preparation for roles, and the responsibilities tied to the new season of ‘Inspector Avinash.’

When asked about the perception that the South film industry is more disciplined and punctual compared to Bollywood, Abhimanyu stated, “I haven’t felt any significant difference. People in Bollywood also pay attention to time. Films here are made with a professional mindset and hard work. Both industries have dedicated individuals, and quality work is being produced in both.”

He further emphasized, “I don’t view Bollywood and South cinema as separate entities. What matters most to the audience is the film and the actor’s performance. If the story is good and the actor performs sincerely, the language or industry doesn’t matter. Today, viewers appreciate all kinds of content, and good films receive love everywhere.”

In ‘Inspector Avinash 2,’ Abhimanyu’s character ‘Devi’ is notably different and challenging. To portray this role, he had to undergo significant mental and physical transformation.

He shared, “Initially, I struggled to understand how to embody the character. I spent a lot of time alone and avoided conversations with others. I believed that to authentically portray the character’s emotions and mental state, I needed to immerse myself in them. Simply delivering dialogues isn’t enough; understanding the pain, thoughts, and feelings of the character is essential.”

Abhimanyu revealed that the physical transformation for this role was particularly tough. Wearing a saree, adopting a feminine look, and executing it with ease was no small feat. It required immense effort, patience, and dedication. His commitment to the role has been well-received by audiences, who have praised his acting.
